The National Assessment and Examinations Center (NAEC) organized an open door day for prospective university entrants to provide information and guidance about the upcoming 2024 Unified National Exams.
The event aimed to familiarize students with the exam structure, content, and procedures, as well as to address any questions or concerns they might have had about the exams. Attendees received comprehensive responses to their inquiries, and took part in a mock registration process to elucidate technical aspects.
Representatives of the center, including subject experts, shared detailed information on registration procedures and the preparatory phase for the exams to aspiring participants.
The National Assessment and Examinations Center intends to organize open door days across various regions of Georgia. Additionally, online sessions will be arranged, accessible to all interested parties. Detailed information will be available on the National Assessment and Examinations Center’ website and Facebook page.
Today, on the 1st of March the National Assessment and Examinations Center announced the commencement of registration for the Unified National Exams of 2024, the Common Master’s Exam and the Student Grant Competition. Registration will open on March 4, at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude on April 4 at 6:00 p.m.
The new head of the National Assessment and Examinations Center, Nino Tsereteli, emphasized the importance of adhering to the designated deadlines and procedures for registration. Tsereteli stressed that compliance with the established protocols is crucial for individuals intending to participate in this year’s examinations. Details regarding registration for the teacher exam will be announced at a later date.

Prospective candidates can register for the 2024 Unified National Exams, the Common Master’s Exam, and the Student Grant Competition starting from March 4 via the official website: online.naec.ge. Comprehensive information regarding the registration process and payment methods will be available on the Center’s website, www.naec.ge, on the day of registration.
Examination centers will operate in various locations, including Tbilisi, Rustavi, Telavi, Gori, Zugdidi, Kutaisi, Poti, Ozurgeti, Batumi, Akhaltsikhe, Khulo, and Ambrolauri.
Attention Entrants: The registration process consists of several stages this year. At the primary stage, until April 4, 18:00, examinees must provide personal information, select the exam city, and choose subjects for examination. Changes to subject selection and language preferences can be made until April 15, 18:00. Modifications to the list of educational programs are permitted following the publication of appeal results.
The National Assessment and Examinations Center highlights that applicants can select multiple educational programs aligned with their subject preferences.
For the 2024 exams, the Center is offering specially curated electronic guidelines containing essential information for applicants.
Handbook for entrants includes details about the examination process, registration guidelines, program selection, result publication, appeal procedures, enrollment, and the process for securing a state educational grant. Additionally, a comprehensive table displaying data from higher educational institutions, examination coefficients, competence thresholds, tuition fees, and other pertinent information.
On Tuesday, the 20th of February the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Giorgi Amilakhvari presented the new Director of the National Assessment and Examinations Center Nino Tsereteli. During a working meeting the Minister introduced Ms. Tsereteli to her new colleagues and wished her success in the future endeavors of the center.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of the National Assessment and Examinations Center within the education system, Minister Amilakhvari emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining and enhancing the center’s efficient practices.

To this esteemed position Ms. Tsereteli brings over 20 years of dedicated experience within the education sector. Her diverse background includes notable tenures at the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as the National Center For Educational Quality Enhancement. From 2019 until her recent appointment, Nino Tsereteli served as the Head of the Higher Education Development Department at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia.
The Ministry expresses confidence in Nino Tsereteli’s leadership and expertise, believing that under her guidance, the National Assessment and Examinations Center will continue to thrive and uphold its mission of ensuring excellence in educational assessments.
For the National Assessment and Examinations Center each new year brings forth new challenges.
In the past years, particularly during the COVID 19 outbreak, the NAEC team faced significant challenges, yet the pandemic also provided a unique opportunity to build resilience. Remarkably, 2023 marked a record number of university applicants.
More than 45,000 applicants registered for the Unified National Exams in 2023. In total, for all summer exams, NAEC had to serve more than 75,000 examinees. Creating a comfortable environment for everyone, assigning examinees to the exam centers without prolonging the exams period, delivering results efficiently in the shortest time possible, obviously was not easy; however, like in previous years, the Center managed to cope with these tasks successfully.

This year’s exam experience also shows that the number of applicants for whom age is no longer an obstacle has increased – higher education can be obtained at any age, if there is a desire for it. In this regard many inspirational stories were brought to our attention. We have watched mothers breastfeeding their babies during short exam breaks, women with children and grandchildren testing their skills in new directions. Such facts bring us joy and admiration, also hope that more and more people will be drawn to self-development and lifelong learning within the upcoming years.
In the 2023 report, we will introduce you to the most memorable exam stories. You will also receive detailed information about the activities that the Center has carried out in various directions throughout the year.
On Thursday, the 19th the winners of the National School Olympiad 2022-2023 academic year were awarded by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Gela Geladze, and the Director of the National Assessment and Examinations Center, Sophia Gorgodze. Gift cards and diplomas were granted to the 52 participants who won the first, second and third places in various subjects.
The National School Olympiad was organized in three rounds in the following subjects: Georgian language and literature, Georgian language (for students of non-Georgian-speaking schools), mathematics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and foreign language.
More than 56,700 students took part in the Olympiad. Up to 9,000 participants moved to the second round, and more than 600 students moved to the third round.
The National School Olympiad is held every year. The purpose of the Olympiad is to stimulate learning process and encourage students. The winners become members of the national teams and participate in the International Olympiads on behalf of Georgia.

The 64th General Assembly meeting of the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement was held in Versailles, France. 120 representatives from 60 countries gathered to review IEA projects, share their experiences with disseminating IEA study results, and discuss critical topics in the field of International Large-scale Assessments.
On Thursday, the 28th Dr. Sophia Gorgodze the director of the National Assessment and Examinations Center presented Georgia as the future host country.
The General Assembly organized by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) is one of the outstanding events in the field of education. It involves top notch educational experts and policy makers who aim to foster educational progress.
Since 1958, IEA has measured students’ mastery of subjects such as mathematics, science, and reading; conducted assessments on civic and citizenship education; investigated students’ computer and information literacy; and researched early childhood and teacher education. The association aims to help members understand effective practices in education and develop evidence-based policies to improve education.
Dr. Sophia Gorgodze, the director of the National Assessment and Examinations Center, is a member of the Standing Committeeof the association. The Standing Committee serves as the IEA decision-making authority, and works with the IEA chair and executive director to implement General Assembly resolutions. The committee is also responsible for recommending committee members and new studies to the General Assembly.
An exam for applicants who are willing to continue their studies in Georgia will be held on the 12th of October for the third time this year. The registration is open until the 6th of October 6:00 p.m.

The National Assessment and Examinations Center supports Georgian citizens’ endeavors to transfer from foreign universities to Georgian higher educational institutions. Therefore, the organization facilitates such exams to ensure more flexible schedule and broader opportunities.
Eligible candidates are citizens of Georgia who have studied, are studying or have received credits in a higher educational institution recognized in accordance with the legislation of a foreign country (not less than one semester/ 75 days).
In order to successfully pass the exam, the examinees should score more than 50% of the maximum points specified for the test.
On Wednesday, the 26th the Unified National Exams for entrants finished with the physics exam. Student Grant Competition as well as Teachers’ Subject Exams were also conducted. The centralized exams 2023 will wrap up on July 28 with the Common Master’s Exam.
This year we had a record number of examinees. More than 75 000 applicants registered for the exams 2023. Attendance rate was 94% and only 50 people were late.
We are happy to share that none of the applicants have been dismissed from the exams. I would like to thank all of the examinees for respecting the examination rules!
As for the results, currently the marking process is being carried out and the results will be published in August after which applicants will have time to appeal.

The Exams 2023 started off with the Unified National Exams on July the 3rd.
A record number of examinees registered for the Unified National Exams – more than 45,000 entrants;
Student Grant Competition – more than 3,000;
Common Master’s Exam – more than 10,000;
Teacher’s Subject Competency Exam – more than 16,000;
Special Teacher Exam – about 2,500.
24 examination centers were operating during this year’s exams throughout Georgia. Exam centers were available in Tbilisi, Batumi, Zugdidi, Kutaisi, Poti, Akhaltsikhe, Gori, Ozurgeti, Rustavi, Telavi and Khulo. This year, for the first time, the examination center was opened in Ambrolauri.
The publication of the primary result will begin as soon as the marking is over, after which the examinees will be able to appeal. Entrants will have an opportunity to modify (delete or add) their list of educational programs anytime including the day after the publication of the results of appeal.

We have collected four most memorable moments from exams 2023 as reminders that “those little things in life” matter the most.
#1 It is never to late to follow your dreams
I am 45 years old. A mother of 7 children and a grandmother of 2 grandchildren. This year I am taking the unified national exams. My decision at this age might seem strange for many people… In 1995, I enrolled in the Faculty of Journalism. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, I could not continue my studies from the second year. Of course, I was always heartbroken over this. My husband passed away 3 years ago. After I was left alone, I realized I had to test out my potential as a person, as a woman and use my abilities live life to the fullest… Lacking higher education has always been one of my major regrets, so I went for it. Despite many obstacles, I still decided to break the stereotypes and show everyone (including myself) that if you set a goal age does not matter at all. Now I work in a kindergarten. I am a teacher’s assistant. I plan to continue my studies in the field of education. I prepared independently for the Georgian language and literature exam. I hope everything will work out.

What happens when a nursing mother is an examinee?
Babies get to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at exam centers.
Exam center coordinators bring kiddos to their mamas and after meal time mothers continue working on the test again.
#3 The love of caring for people makes everything easier
“I wrote well, grandma!” – I am so happy every time the students tell me this when they come out of the exam and share a warm goodbye. I recently turned 70 years old – in addition to my grandchildren, you can say that I am also a grandmother of these applicants. I support each of them with all my heart.
I have been working as a cleaning lady for 12 years in the examination center in the 175th public school. This place is more than a job for me – I have a second home and a second family here. It seems that the joy of life increases with the interaction with the employees of the center.
We start cleaning the examination center from 6 o’clock in the morning. Physical work is not easy for anyone, but the love of caring for people makes everything easier for us

#4 If you want the rainbow you have to deal with the rain
This year, for the first time an exam center was opened in Ambrolauri, in the northwestern part of Georgia, the mountainous Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region.
Weather in the mountains changed pretty rapidly but the exam center staff made sure to assist each and every applicant to keep them from rain and bring smiles to brighten up their day.
The 2023 exams will conclude on the 26th of July. In parallel with the Unified National Exams in 2023, the National Assessment and Examinations Center is also conducting a Common Master’s Degree Exam and a Student Grant Competition. The center will also conduct the Subject/Professional Skills/Senior Special Teacher Examinations. In total, more than 75,000 applicants are registered for the 2023 exams.
Grant competition 2023 started on Wednesday, the 12th. More than 3,000 students who endeavor to obtain or improve educational funding joined the examination process. The Grant Competition has been held since 2007 and is a unique opportunity for students to get or increase merit based state grants.
All undergraduate students of accredited higher educational institutions, who have either not received a grant at all, or have only partial funding, have the right to participate in the competition. If the student is unable to improve the funding, he/she retains the previously obtained grant and remains entitled to re-register for the student grant competition each subsequent year (the grant does not finance additional semesters).
The National Assessment and Examinations Center has developed a test format specifically for this exam, and each year, test items are tailored for students to assess their general academic skills. Conducting the grant competition in the form of a centralized exam creates equal conditions for students of different universities and increases the motivation to study harder.
A foreign language exam for entrants was also held on the 12th of July. The next exam will be in biology on July 14.
