The National Assessment and Examinations Center (NAEC) serves students, teachers, educational organizations, governmental and non-governmental agencies, professional unions, ministries and the Government of Georgia through the provision of valid and reliable instruments for educational assessment.
NAEC was established on July 5th, 2002 by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. It is Georgia’s largest professional organization in the field of educational assessment.
NAEC employs a team of 200 devoted professionals including psychometricians, subject area specialists, computer scientists, and administrative personnel. The team strives for excellence, and readily shares knowledge and experience with other experts and organizations. Since its foundation, NAEC has strongly emphasized the professional development of its employees, and with this goal, seeks support and cooperation with experts and organizations across the world.
Inspiration
The Center aims to improve the quality of education through valid, fair, and reliable assessment and research. NAEC provides a wide range of tests and other instruments for assessment of achievement and competencies, from school exams to certification tests for public servants. For more than 14 years, NAEC has been the sole managing body for the large scale, high-stakes exams in Georgia. During that period, it introduced computer based and computer adaptive testing techniques, enabling the efficient and secure administration of hundreds of thousands of exams.
