On October 11, testing for applicants to higher and certain secondary vocational education programs was conducted in Natural Sciences, encompassing the Chemistry, Physics, and/or Biology components. The Quantitative Literacy test took place on October 12.
The examinations were administered in 33 examination centers across 24 cities throughout Georgia. In total, over 8,200 applicants were registered for the examinations, with some candidates taking more than one test.
To ensure applicants’ familiarity with the examination format and procedures, an online practice testing session was held on October 7, from 10:00 to 18:00. Participation in the practice session was voluntary and provided an opportunity to explore the system without receiving a score or formal evaluation.
The testing process was conducted in accordance with established standards and aimed to ensure transparency, accessibility, and fairness for all participants.
The 2025 examination season in Georgia is set to officially begin on July 3 with the launch of the Unified National Exams. The first subject on the agenda for applicants will be Georgian Language and Literature. The national exams will conclude on July 22 with the Visual and Applied Arts exam.
Meanwhile, those registered for the Teacher Certification Exams will enter the examination process starting July 8, and the Student Grant Competition is scheduled for July 10. For graduate degree candidates, the Common Master’s Exam will be held on July 21-22.
Detailed information about individual exam dates, reporting times, and the addresses of testing centers will be provided on each applicant’s personal examination card. Applicants will be able to print their exam cards from their registration page starting June 20.
The National Assessment and Examinations Center (NAEC) is actively preparing to ensure that the examination process runs smoothly. Preparatory steps already completed include trial testing of exam materials, along with training and assessments for all individuals involved in the examination process.
Currently, the NAEC is in the process of printing and sorting answer sheets, draft papers, and support materials such as maps and periodic tables of chemical elements. Final preparations are also underway to equip the examination laptops with the necessary software. Additionally, an independent team of experts is finalizing the identification and analysis of special requirements for candidates who need accommodations, based on their applications and submitted Form N100.
As in previous years, exam centers for 2025 will operate in multiple locations across the country, including Tbilisi, Batumi, Zugdidi, Kutaisi, Poti, Akhaltsikhe, Gori, Ozurgeti, Rustavi, Telavi, Khulo, and Ambrolauri. Soon, the NAEC will begin equipping these centers with all necessary supplies.
To help applicants better prepare, the NAEC has already hosted several Open Days throughout Georgia, both in-person and online. Another informational session is planned in the near future to provide comprehensive guidance on the exam process and regulations. The exact date of this meeting will be announced soon on the NAEC’s official website and Facebook page.
Additionally, an organizational meeting has already been held to coordinate preparations for the exams. Participants discussed detailed action plans and outlined key steps leading up to the exams.
This year, approximately 80,000 applicants have registered to take part in the Unified National Exams, the Common Master’s Exam, Teacher Certification Exams, and the Student Grant Competition.

On Friday, the 26th of July the main sessions of the 2024 exams finished. Initial results show that approximately 93% of applicants appeared for the Unified National Exams, while 71% participated in the student grant competition. Additionally, 79% took part in the general master’s exam, and 84% took part in the teachers’ exam. There was a single case of disqualification due to an attempt to use unauthorized materials.
“This year’s exams, I believe, were successful, thanks to the dedication of every employee involved in organizing this crucial process. Marking process has already started, and the publication of the results will begin in early August with the initial results of the Georgian language and literature exam. Results for other subjects will be announced gradually as soon as marking is completed. Examinees will be able to view their scores and papers on the website: online.naec.ge.
I would like to remind the entrants once again that they will have the opportunity to indicate and change educational programs in their registration application from the day after the publication of the results of the appeals. Therefore, I urge them to carefully review their choices and, if desired, make changes to the ranked list of programs. It is also very important to remember to save any changes using the save button,” said Nino Tsereteli, director of the National Assessment and Examinations Center.
A total of 24 examination centers were opened across Georgia in 2024. About 80,000 applicants were registered for the exams, including more than 47,000 entrants for the Unified National Exams; over 3,000 students for the student grant competition; more than 10,000 master’s degree candidates registered for the general master’s exam, and over 18,900 applicants expressed their desire to participate in the teachers’ exam.
On Monday, the 26th the National Assessment and Examinations Center hosted exam center coordinators and administrators to discuss the final updates regarding exams 2023. The meeting was co-chaired by the Director of the NAEC Dr. Sophia Gorgodze and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Gela Geladze.
24 administrators and the same number of coordinators attended the annual working meeting. The heads of the various divisions shared the latest improvements and modifications of the examination process.
Annual meetings are usually held a week before the examination period to ensure the exam center representatives are fully equipped with relevant information and operate the exam centers efficiently, so that all applicants have a fair and standardized testing experience.
The exams 2023 will begin on July the 3rd and conclude on the 26th of July. Examination centers will be operating in Tbilisi, Batumi, Zugdidi, Kutaisi, Poti, Akhaltsikhe, Gori, Ozurgeti, Rustavi, Telavi Khulo and Ambrolauri.
Sophia Gorgodze was elected to the IEA Standing Committee at the General Assembly Meeting sessions that are being held in Split, Croatia between 3-5 October 2022.
IEA International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement is an international cooperative of national research institutions, government research agencies, scholars, and analysts working to evaluate, understand, and improve education worldwide. More than 60 countries are actively involved in the IEA network, and over 100 education systems participate in their studies.
The IEA Standing Committee (SC) consists of the IEA chair and six General Assembly representatives (elected for a three-year term). The committee serves as a board of directors for both IEA and the IEA Secretariat. She will replace Dr. Zuwaina Saleh Issa Al-Maskari.
Dr. Gorgodze will join current IEA Standing Committee members Mr. Barclay Anstiss, Dr. Thierry Rocher (chair), Dr. Stephen Provasnik, Dr. Roberto Ricci, Ms. Sophia Gorgodze, Dr. Ines Elezović, and Dr. Maria Axelsson.
Sophia Gorgodze is an experienced education specialist with over 16 years of experience as a teacher, lecturer, education consultant and education projects manager. At Ilia University Ms. Gorgodze has taught different education courses to future school administrators and teachers at BA, MA and PHD level. Ms. Gorgodze worked for the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia at various positions. Most importantly, she held the position of a Director at National Center for Teacher Professional Development in 2007-2010. Ms. Gorgodze holds MA degree in International Education Policy from Harvard Graduate School of Education and MA degree in American Studies from Tbilisi State University. She earned her Doctoral degree in Education from Ilia State University.
On Thursday, 1st the National Assessment and Examinations Center conducted an exam for applicants who were willing to continue their studies in Georgia.
The NAEC supports Georgian citizens’ endeavors to transfer from foreign universities to Georgian higher educational institutions. Therefore, the organization facilitates such exams twice a year to ensure more flexible schedule and broader opportunities.
The exam started at 12:00 and lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes.
In order to successfully pass the exam, the examinees should score more than 50% of the maximum points specified for the test (minimum threshold 23 points).
The exam results will be announced as soon as the papers are marked. The results will be available on the website: online.naec.ge. The applicants will be able to access their personal accounts using the password given by the NAEC on an exam day.
The registration dates for the upcoming exam date will be announced later.
The busiest days are ahead for the NAEC. Up to 90 000 registered applicants in 22 exam centers around the country will be testing out their skills and knowledge within the upcoming two months.
The first exam days of the Unified National Exams of 2022 have passed peacefully. On the 4th of July up to 95% registered examinees were present during Georgian language and literature exam.
More than 41,000 entrants have registered for the Unified National Exams this year. It is necessary for applicants to appear on time for each exam with an identity document and an exam card, which indicates the time and place of each exam – applicants will not be admitted to the exam after the registration is completed.
All centers are equipped with a cooling system and all the necessary infrastructure. Ambulances, rescue service and patrol police are mobilized at the examination centers.
The entrants have the opportunity to choose and change educational programs for several more months until the publication of the results of the appeal. This regulation has been adopted by the Center to let the examinees make decisions based on their actual results which increases their chances to be enrolled in the desired programs.
The major news of the 2022: entrants have the broader opportunity to choose the third compulsory subject as the literature, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, fine and applied arts, civic education were added to the list along with the existing subjects: mathematics and/or history.
The change does not apply to any program of the health direction and also to the method of awarding with the grant.
2022 Exam Regulations: Pandemic-related regulations that have been in place for the past two years will be abolished for the 2022 exams. Examinees may only wear a mask if they wish to.
As for those who will officially be diagnosed with Covid-19, they will not be excluded from the examination process. In addition, one exam session of the relevant subject will be conducted for such examinees after at least 7 days of infection. An additional session will be scheduled only once per subject.
The National Assessment and Examinations Center determines the participants of the additional examination session based on the information collected from the database of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.
In parallel with the Unified National Exams in 2022, the National Assessment and Examinations Center is also conducting a Common Master’s Degree Exam and a Student Grant Competition. The center will also conduct the Subject/Professional Skills/Senior Special Teacher Examinations.
